Fishing in the Gold Beach Area

Fishing in teh Rogue River Channel

This is the view from one of our vacation homes (Pacific Sunset) above the mouth of the Rogue River when the fish are gathering for the trip upriver to spawn. It is some of the very best sport fishing anywhere in the world and it can be available right in your front yard! Sometimes it is salmon and sometimes it is steelhead, but always it is a serious challenge.

Fishing in the Rogue RiverIf you bring your own boat we have comfortable vacation homes that offer adequate parking facilities for boats and trailers as well as homes that fit the size of your party and have gourmet kitchens that are equal to the culinary challenges that your catch will present to the family chef. If part of your group is uninterested in actually catching the fish there are plenty of things in our area for them to do while the fisherman is out on the water hard at work getting dinner. We will be delighted to help them find the particular activities that interest them most.

Talking about dinner - here is a simple recipe for grilled salmon (all of our homes have bar-b-que grills):

one and a half pounds of salmon fillets
lemon pepper, garlic powder,& salt to taste
1/3 cup soy sauce
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup water
1/4 cup vegetable oil
Season salmon fillets with lemon pepper, garlic powder, and salt. In a small bowl, stir together soy sauce, brown sugar, water, and vegetable oil until the sugar is dissolved. Place fish in a large resealable plastic bag with the soy sauce mixture, seal, and turn to coat. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours. Preheat grill for medium heat. Lightly oil grill grate. Place salmon on the preheated grill, and discard marinade. Cook salmon for 6 to 8 minutes per side, or until the fish flakes easily with a fork. No fuss, no muss, and voila! Wild salmon straight out of the river for a dinner fit for kings and queens. You just can not find any better!
